Nous soutenons le combat des Américains Accidentels

« La délégation française du Groupe PPE soutient les centaines de Français et les milliers d'Européens que l'on nomme les Américains Accidentels », ont déclaré Franck Proust et Jérôme Lavrilleux en amont d’un vote sur le sujet en session plénière du Parlement européen.

« Possédant la nationalité américaine sans avoir jamais vécu ou travaillé aux États-Unis, ils se retrouvent aujourd'hui face à une situation kafkaïenne. En raison d'une loi extraterritoriale américaine, le Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), ces citoyens européens ont le choix entre s'acquitter d'obligations fiscales américaines de plusieurs milliers de dollars liées à leur nationalité, ou renoncer à leur nationalité américaine avec des frais parfois encore plus élevés. Ce n'est pas un choix, c'est un dilemme ».

« Face à cette situation ubuesque, les autorités fiscales américaines et européennes doivent s'entendre. Nous soutenons la résolution qui sera votée lors de la session plénière, et soutenons également le combat mené par l'Association des Américains Accidentels ».
