Šulin: Na področju varovanja človekovih pravic ne smemo sklepati nikakršnih kompromisov

Strasbourg, 7. februar 2018 (SDS/ELS) - “Turčija se je v zadnjih letih zelo oddaljila od evropskih vrednot, nedavni dogodki pa ponovno vzbujajo veliko zaskrbljenost. Množične aretacije novinarjev, aktivistov za človekove pravice, sodnikov in univerzitetnih učiteljev, ki smo jim bili priča po poskusu državnega udara, se še danes nadaljujejo, kar nas vse lahko skrbi. Ostro obsojam nečloveško ravnanje v turških zaporih z ženskami in otroki, ki spadajo med najbolj ranljive skupine naše družbe”, je na plenarnem zasedanju Evropskega parlamenta v Strasbourgu ob robu razprave o sedanjem stanju na področju človekovih pravic v Turčiji dejala evropska poslanka Patricija Šulin.

Šulinova, ki je članica Odbora za proračun, se je v pogajanjih za letošnji evropski proračun zavzela za zmanjšanje predpristopne pomoči Turčiji. “Zaradi oddaljevanja Turčije od vrednot Evropske unije smo v trialogu dosegli zmanjšanje predpristopne pomoči za 105 milijonov evrov. Šele, ko bo Turčija dosegla opazen napredek področju pravne države, demokracije, človekovih pravic in svobode tiska, bomo znesek sprostili”, je dodala evropska poslanka.

“V dialogu s Turčijo moramo vztrajati, da Turčija spoštuje najvišje demokratične standarde, h katerim se je zavezala kot država kandidatka za vstop v Evropsko unijo ter kot članica Sveta Evrope. Konkretne izboljšave na področju pravne države in temeljnih svoboščin morajo biti temelj prihodnjih odnosov med Evropsko unijo in Turčijo. Na področju varovanja človekovih pravic ne smemo sklepati nikakršnih kompromisov”, je bila jasna evropska poslanka Patricija Šulin.
