DIT IS EEN VOORMALIGE COMMISSIE

Op 16 december 2015 heeft het Europees Parlement besloten een enquêtecommissie in te stellen om onderzoek te verrichten naar inbreuken op het EU-recht in verband met emissiemetingen in de automobielsector en wanbeheer bij de toepassing ervan. De enquêtecommissie is opgericht nadat aan het licht was gekomen dat Volkswagen de emissiegrenswaarde voor NOx (stikstofoxide) bij dieselwagens had omzeild. De commissie zal bestaan uit 45 EP-leden, onder wie 14 uit de EVP-Fractie.

 

De taak van de commissie is om het volgende te onderzoeken: of de Europese Commissie heeft nagelaten de testcycli regelmatig te evalueren; of de Europese Commissie en de autoriteiten van de lidstaten hebben nagelaten passende en doeltreffende maatregelen te treffen voor de handhaving en het toezicht op de handhaving van het verbod op manipulatie-instrumenten; of de Europese Commissie heeft nagelaten tests onder realistische rijomstandigheden in te voeren; of de lidstaten hebben nagelaten bepalingen vast te stellen om aan fabrikanten op te leggen doeltreffende, evenredige en afschrikkende sancties in het geval van overtredingen en ten slotte of de Europese Commissie en de lidstaten reeds vóór het schandaal op 18 september 2015 uitkwam, over bewijs van het gebruik van manipulatie-instrumenten beschikten.
