De Commissie begrotingscontrole is bevoegd voor de controle op de uitvoering van de EU-begroting, m.a.w. of het geld van de belastingbetaler goed wordt besteed. Ze behandelt gevallen van fraude en onregelmatigheden bij de uitvoering van de begroting en stelt maatregelen voor ter voorkoming en instelling van vervolging wegens dergelijke gevallen. Zij controleert ook de rekeningen van de EU-instellingen.
