Brüssel, 25. Februar 2016  -  Der Kampf gegen illegalen Waffenhandel, die Flüchtlingskrise, der EU-Aussengrenzschutz und die Debatte um zusätzliche Grenzkontrollen innerhalb der EU waren Themen eines Arbeitstreffens von Bundesinnenministerin Johanna Mikl-Leitner mit dem Leiter der ÖVP-Delegation im Europäischen Parlament, Othmar Karas, am 25. Februar 2016.

"Illegalen Waffenhandel abdrehen, aber funktionierende Regelungen wie in Österreich nicht gefährden, dafür setze ich mich ein", so Karas.

Karas warnte vor den hohen Kosten für die europäische und österreichische Wirtschaft durch zusätzliche Grenzkontrollen innerhalb der EU. "Ziel muss eine gemeinsame europäische Lösung und ein verstärkter Aussengrenzschutz sein", betonte Karas.
