    • On economy and environment

       On economy and environment

The EPP Group is committed to Social Market Economy. We strive for a Europe that creates opportunity and wealth in the single market based on the following pillars: good economic governance, competitiveness, sound financial regulation and consumer protection, solidarity, and the promotion of growth and jobs. We believe in sustainable development that will guarantee sufficient resources for future generations, among others through modernising our energy policy and leading global efforts to combat climate change.
    • On foreign affairs

       On foreign affairs

We aim to help design the EU's external policies in this direction: promoting an external action based on democracy and rule of law, strengthening political relations with third countries, ensuring the effectiveness of the enlargement process, encouraging the spread of fundamental principles and human rights, promoting free trade and contributing to the eradication of poverty throughout the world.
    • On budget and structural policies

       On budget and structural policies

We advocate adequate EU financing that is sensitive to the socio-economic challenges Europe is facing. It is our duty to ensure taxpayers' money is allocated to promote sustainable growth and jobs, and is well spent with zero tolerance for fraud or corruption. We stand for a constant evolution of EU added value policies such as research and development, transnational networks, regional policy and the CAP, based on the principles of solidarity and sustainability.
    • On legal and home affairs

       On legal and home affairs

The EPP Group is committed to creating an EU where citizens enjoy their fundamental right to free movement, where the rule of law and fundamental rights are fully respected. We campaign for a single legal framework on data protection respecting intellectual property rights, privacy and gender equality. We are working towards a common European approach on immigration and asylum policy.
    • On our neighbourhood

       On our neighbourhood

The EPP Group has always been a leading force behind the made-to-measure policies of enlargement and neighbourhood as tools for democratisation, political dialogue, economic cooperation and strengthening ties between the EU and its Eastern and Southern neighbours.
    • Our priorities

       Our priorities

The EPP Group campaigns for a strong Europe based on the principle of subsidiarity. Our objective is a more competitive, inclusive and sustainable social market economy in a Europe that is ever closer to its citizens. We are determined to push forward the policies required to achieve that objective, firm in the belief that more Europe is the answer.

The European People's Party and the Group of the European People's Party are not one and the same. Not only that, the dynamic between the Party and the Group is different to that in a national political system. With national parliaments

With the coming into force of the Lisbon Treaty, national parliaments have been given a bigger role in EU decision-making. The EPP Group is fostering channels of communication and close contact with its like-minded colleagues in national parliaments through its parliamentary networks.

      On intercultural dialogue

It is important for the EPP Group to keep in contact with the representatives of various religious groups while mutually acknowledging each others' independence. In contemporary European and global politics, there are numerous problems that can only be solved by broad social cooperation.
