Pilsoņu brīvību, tieslietu un iekšlietu komiteja ir atbildīga par pilsoņu tiesību, cilvēktiesību un pamattiesību aizsardzību Eiropas Savienības teritorijā, ieskaitot minoritāšu tiesību aizsardzību, kā noteikts Līgumos un Eiropas Savienības Pamattiesību hartā. Tā risina jautājumus saistībā ar personas datu aizsardzību. Komitejas pārziņā ir arī migrācijas un patvēruma noteikumi, kopīgo robežu integrēta pārvaldība, kā arī policijas un tiesu iestāžu sadarbība krimināllietās.
