Extraordinary formal sitting of the European Parliament. EPP-ED condemns the terrorist attacks on the USA but warns before identifying the terrorist with the Muslim world. The Chairman of the EPP-ED Group, Hans-Gert Poettering, appeals for closer international cooperation to combat terrorism effectively.

Re-election of Hans-Gert Poettering as Chairman of the EPP-ED Group. Number of Vice-Chairmen enlarged to nine. The Members of the Czech SNK-ED become Members of the Group. The Czech ODS, Portuguese Partido Popularand Italian Partito Pensionati join the ED part of EPP-ED Group. The EPP-ED Group is now composed of 268 Members.
