La commission du contrôle budgétaire est responsable du contrôle de l'exécution du budget de l'Union, à savoir que l'argent des contribuables est bien dépensé. Elle examine les fraudes et les irrégularités dans l'exécution du budget et propose des mesures visant à prévenir et réprimer de tels cas. Elle vérifie aussi les comptes des institutions de l'Union européenne.
