Tööhõive- ja sotsiaalkomisjon vastutab tööhõivepoliitika ja kõigi sotsiaalpoliitika aspektide eest, nagu töötingimused, sotsiaalkindlustus ja sotsiaalkaitse.Lisaks tegeleb ta selliste teemadega nagu töötervishoiu ja tööohutuse meetmed, kutseõppepoliitika, kaasa arvatud kutsekvalifikatsioonid, töötajate ja pensionäride vaba liikumine ning kõik diskrimineerimise vormid töökohal ja tööturul, välja arvatud sooline diskrimineerimine, sest see kuulub naiste õiguste ja soolise võrdõiguslikkuse komisjoni vastutusalasse.
