Kodanikuvabaduste, justiits- ja siseasjade komisjon vastutab kodanikuõiguste, inimõiguste ja põhiõiguste kaitse eest Euroopa Liidu territooriumil, kaasa arvatud vähemuste kaitse eest vastavalt aluslepingutele ja Euroopa Liidu põhiõiguste hartale.Komisjoni vastutusvaldkonda kuulub ka isikuandmete kaitse.Lisaks tegeleb komisjon varjupaiga- ja sisserändepoliitika eeskirjadega, ühiste piiride ühtse haldamise küsimustega ning politsei- ja õigusalase koostööga kriminaalasjades.
