Además, interpreta del Derecho internacional, en la medida en que este afecte a la Unión Europea. Entre sus otras prerrogativas, la comisión también adopta las medidas relativas a la cooperación judicial y administrativa en materia civil y se ocupa de la responsabilidad medioambiental y las sanciones aplicables a los delitos contra el medio ambiente.
