EPP Group in the European Parliament holding its Study Days in Bonn, 8-9 December 2009



EPP Party Congress on 9-10 December

The Group of the European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament is holding its annual Study Days in Bonn, Germany, on 8 and 9 December 2009. The discussions, chaired by EPP Group Chairman Joseph Daul MEP, will be followed by the Statutory Congress of the EPP Party, bringing together 13 EU and 6 non-EU Heads of State and Prime Ministers as well as the Presidents of the three main European institutions.

The EPP Group Study Days will be opened by the EPP Group Chairman Joseph Daul MEP and the EPP Vice-President and German Parliamentary Secretary-of-State Peter Hintze MdB, as well as the Chairman and the Heads of the CDU/CSU Delegation in the EPP Group, Werner Langen MEP (CDU) and Markus Ferber MEP (CSU).

The first panel discussion on 'Ensuring a Successful Recovery from the Crisis' will start at 17.00 hrs on 8 December and will be introduced by the Prime Minister of Latvia, Valdis Dombrovskis. On 9 December at 09.00 hrs the President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek MEP, will introduce the debate on 'Helping Political and Economic Integration and Social Cohesion in the New Member States', followed at 10.45 hrs by a discussion on the Copenhagen Summit, introduced by EPP Member Karl-Heinz Florenz (CDU).

A press conference will take place on Wednesday 9 December 2009 at 12.30 hrs. All discussions are open to the press and take place in the Maritim Hotel Bonn, Godesberger Allee, D-53175 Bonn, Germany.

Following the Study Days, the EPP Party will hold its Statutory Congress in the old Bundestag building in Bonn on 9 and 10 December 2009 - Platz der Vereinten Nationen 2, D-53113 Bonn, Germany. Hosted by EPP President Wilfried Martens and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, it will unite over 1500 delegates, amongst them 13 EU and 6 non-EU Heads of Government.
