The 4th EPP Young Members Network meeting will open tomorrow in Porto (Portugal)

The 4th EPP Young Members Network meeting will start at 18.00 tomorrow at the "Palácio da Bolsa" in Porto (Portugal).

The two-day meeting will take place on 29 and 30 October 2009 in Porto under the leadership of the Vice-Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, Paulo Rangel MEP, and the Coordinator of the Young Members Network, Andreas Schwab MEP.

The core focus of the event will be the following discussions:
  • Parliamentarism in Europe: new ways of working together after the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty (with Mr Rangel MEP, Vice-Chairman of the EPP Group at the European Parliament, Palácio da Bolsa, 29 October, 18.00)
  • Growth and Jobs in Europe (with Mr Lewandowski MEP, Member of the Budgets and Economic and Monetary Affairs Committees of the European Parliament, Palácio da Bolsa, 30 October, 10.00)
  • Economy and Culture: the role of culture industries in solving the current crisis (with António Gomes de Pinho, Palácio da Bolsa, 30 October)
  • Challenges for European economic recovery (Mr Dombrovskis, Prime Minister of Latvia)

In the framework of relations with sister groups in the national parliaments, the EPP continues to further develop its 'Young Members Network' which was set up in 2006. It comprises all young Members of National Parliaments and Members of the European Parliament, who were 36 years old or younger at the time of their election.
