EPP-ED congratulates Gilles de Kerckhove d'Ousselghem on his appointment as new EU Anti-Terrorism Coordinator. Joseph Daul MEP, Chairman of the EPP-ED Group



DAUL, JosephJoseph Daul MEP, Chairman of the EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament, has congratulated Gilles de Kerckhove d'Ousselghem on his appointment as European Anti-Terrorism Coordinator by Javier Solana, the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union.

"Gilles de Kerckhove is an expert in the field of international police and justice cooperation. We are confident that his close collaboration with his predecessor Gijs De Vries has prepared him very well for the task at hand."

Joseph Daul underlined that the EPP-ED Group was the only political group in the European Parliament to repeatedly insist on the swift appointment of a successor for Mr de Vries. "Efficient cooperation by the Member States in the fight against terrorism is a high priority for our Group. We are therefore satisfied that we could influence a quick decision in this regard."
