The Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety is responsible for sustainable development, environmental policy and environmental protection measures, in particular concerning air, soil and water pollution, waste management and recycling, dangerous substances and preparations, noise levels, climate change, and the protection of biodiversity. It deals with public health, in particular with programmes and specific actions in the field of public health, and with pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. Finally, it tackles food safety issues, in particular the labelling and safety of foodstuffs, veterinary legislation concerning protection against risks to human health and public health checks on foodstuffs and food production systems.
