The Committee on Culture and Education is responsible for improving the knowledge and dissemination of culture, safeguarding cultural heritage and the protection and promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity. It also deals with the EU's education policy, such as Erasmus or lifelong learning. Finally, the Committee also tackles issues related to audiovisual policy and the cultural and educational aspects of the information society, youth policy and the development of a sports and leisure policy and information and media policy.
