Hans-Gert Poettering elected President of the European Parliament

Hans-Gert Poettering MEP has been elected the 12th President of the European Parliament, receiving an absolute majority (450 votes) on the first round of voting today in Strasbourg. Joseph Daul, EPP-ED Group Chairman congratulated Hans-Gert Poettering saying "this is a great moment for our political Group". Press Release
